"Roots of Strength"

A moss-covered tree leans out over a bed of pale boulders with a small waterfall running between them, its roots spreading across the stones. An arched door and a round window are set into the roots, and at the right a ringtail walks in carrying a bundle on a staff. According to the artist, the tree was felled but keeps flourishing because its roots held — a stand-in for the roots of San Miguel's own people.
